2008 LOXIAS RACER

LOXIAS "VEGGIE" BENZ

LOXIAS "Veggie" Benz

Loxias has completed a full conversion of the 1982 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel
This 26-year-old classic will now run on the following fuels:
Vegetable Oil   (right from the supermarket)
Waste Vegetable Oil   (after restaurants make fries, chicken, calamari, etc.)
Biodiesel   (a natural alternative to diesel)
Regular Diesel, Olive Oil, Peanut Oil, Salad Oil, Canola Oil and other plant-based oils

The conversion cost a little over $1700, with labor, a MercedesSource Dual Tank Conversion (DTC) kit, adding a new alternator, battery and two fuel pumps.  The original fuel tank is rigged to run on vegetable oil (or any mix of diesel, waste vegetable oil and/or biodiesel).  A second 6 gallon tank uses regular diesel for start ups.  With a simple fuel heating system in the engine compartment, new fuel lines, an additional fuse system and an adequate amount of filters this a real fun car to drive!

While diesel prices stay above $4.50 a gallon, our system is very attractive at roughly $ 0.30 per gallon (estimated from collecting waste vegetable oil, filtering it and replacing system filters over time).  When you stop at a traffic light, all you smell is whatever was previously fried in the cooking oil the car is running on.  No kidding...kind of like constantly driving by a fast food restaurant.

Don't forget that WILLIE NELSON is in the biodiesel business.  Check out his website at www.biowillieusa.com

If you are traveling near Oberlin, Ohio, make sure to stop by Full Circle Fuels (www.fullcirclefuels.com) for processed waste vegetable oil straight from the fuel pump.  They also have biodiesel pumps at their station.  Tell Sam and Nate that Loxias sent you!

www.mercedessource.comLoxias has trusted Kent Bergsma at Mercedes Source (www.mercedessource.com) as a reliable source for older Mercedes parts, modification kits and helpful do-it-yourself manuals.  With Kent's resources, the 300D is well over 260,000 miles and running well!
